MORE THAN A VACATION

Home sweet home...just arrived home on the 11th..from a wonderful magic vacation with my family...Oh my we covered disney and all the parks for my grandddaughters 16th birthday..needless to say we were exhausted..ate alot of authentic foods from each country..THEN on to the dream of my life..New Orleans..I truly have to say I left a big piece of my heart in the French Quarter..and bourbon St...the music and the culture just brought me to tears and awe...even if I did almost pull over the Bourbon St. sign while I hugged on to it..lol..I will dwell on this part of my vacation..because I do believe of all the cities in the US..there is none like New Orleans..Oh yes everyone told us not to go there because of the dangers..oh no my dear friends...please don't ever let that keep you from going..it is a wonder you will never forget..Thanks to my good friend Loopy Boopy who lives there..even though she wasn't feeling well she lead us around town by e-mail..thanks Colleen!..When we first arrived..I was totally overwhelmed..and didn't know where to start..so we took a walk to the French Quarter..we looked up and there was our daughter and family on one of the balconies of Maison Dupuy hotel where they were staying...so off we ventured..my goal was to see the whole French Quarter and Bourbon St..of course we couldn't do it in one evening..so we just meandered with me in total awe!..next morning we started out early with a historic carriage ride thru the FQ..our guide was wonderful..and showed us..Brad Pitt and Angelinas house..and Nicholas Cages' house..and Truman Capotes'and Delta Burkes house..right down town in the FQ..beautiful..then we wandered thru one of the unbelievable above ground cemetaries..it absolutely took your breath away..we joined a small tour in there..and the tour guide was awesome in describing the stones and showing us New Orleans famous Voodoo queen Marie LaVeaux grave..plus her daughters..well come to find out our great tour guide(and he really was!)..didn't even work at the cemetary..he just did the tours for a little change he said..I just thought he was so fun!!..I just don't know what else to say about NO..signs of Katrina all around..yes..but rebuilding..with hope..someone told us they were 3/4/ back to wonderful normal in the Quarter..I thank the Lord many of the beautiful old buildings in the French Quarter weren't destroyed..although I'm surprised...I will go back one day..if its just to stand quietly and breath in that wonderful atmosphere...those of you that live there have a real treasure...donna
